‘We are thrilled!’ Erath County Humane Society receives $50K grant for new shelter.

It’s a good day for the Erath County Humane Society.

Executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News that the board of directors learned this week that it has received a $50,000 grant from Cross Works Foundation that will be used to build a new – and much needed – shelter.

“We are thrilled; this is exciting news,” Serena said.

Serena said she and other board members are working with Shelter Builders of America on blueprints for the new facility, which she hopes to have finalized in the coming months.

“Once that is complete and we get a cost for the project, we will begin a capital campaign,” she said.

Last year, the board purchased land on CR 454, south of Stephenville, that will serve as the site for the new shelter.

The new facility will provide additional space, improve quality of life for animals and offer a more inviting environment for those wanting to adopt a pet.
