Two SISD board members say they won’t seek re-election in May; local businessman enters race.

Matt Miller

Matt Miller filed Thursday to run for place 5 on the Stephenville ISD board of trustees.

Place 5 is currently held by Dr. Ed Dittfurth who told Beneath the Surface News that he will not seek another term in May.

Board president Dr. Ann Calahan said she doesn’t plan to seek re-election either.

Miller, 40, graduated from Stephenville High School in 1999 and Tarleton State University in 2003 with a degree in business. He is a financial advisor with Edward Jones.

“Making an impact and difference for our community, especially our school district, is very important to me,” Miller said. “Our kids, educators, staff and administrators deserve our very best and I hope to bring that to the school board.”

The filing period for the May 7 election ends Friday, Feb. 18.

The last day to register to vote is Thursday, April 7.
