Time is running out to sign up as an Angel Tree recipient; deadline is Nov. 16.

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

Angel Trees will soon begin springing up across Erath County, and if you have a child you plan to sign up as a recipient, time is running out.

H.O.P.E.’s executive director Jill Scott told Beneath the Surface News that the deadline to register for the Angel Tree the organization hosts jointly with Grace Place is Tuesday, Nov. 16.

“We are doing things a little differently this year and will only be registering kids at one location – inside the foyer at First Baptist Church (Stephenville),” she said. “We need people to get here and not miss the deadline.”

Registration will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday of this week and Monday, Nov. 15, and from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Angel Tree recipients must be sixth grade or younger.

When registering, parents must show a photo ID and utility bill for proof of address. If they are registering a school-age child, they must also bring a copy of a report card that shows the child attends school in Erath County.

If the child is not yet in school, a copy of a birth certificate is required.

The parents will be asked to fill out two forms – one with information about the family – and a second with info about the child like shoe and clothing sizes, hobbies and favorite color.

“They will also include one item the child really needs,” Jill said.

The children’s names will then be dispersed onto various Angel Trees throughout Erath County around Thanksgiving.

Officials with H.O.P.E. and Grace Place will contact each family to let them know when and where they can pick up the gifts.
