This week’s featured dog has been at the animal shelter for nine months.

Cue the breaking hearts.

One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is another long-termer.

Dondo is a 3 to 4-year-old male Boxer mix that has been at the shelter since April 2021.

“He walks very well on a leash and is kennel-trained as long as he is let out regularly,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News. “He is pretty rambunctious, so probably shouldn't be in a home with small children and he doesn't do well with other dogs.”

Dondo is food aggressive and should be fed alone or when crated.

“He is very loving and adores people and attention,” Serena said.

Dondo is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heart worm negative and on prevention.

Oh, and he loves playing with toys.

Venus is a 5 to 6-year-old female domestic shorthair.

“She is a very calm, quiet lady,” Serena said. “She likes attention, but tend to keep to herself.”

Venus has a sensitive stomach and can only eat dry food.

She is is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.
