One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Maverick, a seven to eight-month-old puppy that was adopted, then returned due to housing issues.
“This sweet, energetic young dog has a big heart and an even bigger love for cuddles,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“One of his favorite pastimes is burrowing into blankets, and he's always up for a game with his beloved rope toy.”
Maverick is a smart boy who already knows several commands including sit, down, shake, roll over and spin.
“And he's eager to show them off for attention and snacks!” Serena said.
He doesn't enjoy being left alone, so he will need to be crated when unsupervised to help him feel safe and secure.
Maverick gets along with other dogs, kids, strangers and even livestock.
He is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.
Bam was brought in as a stray, and sadly, never reclaimed.
“But this sweet cat is handling shelter life with quiet grace,” Serena said. “She's a friendly girl who prefers to sit back and observe rather than rush to the front of her kennel.”
Once you come to her, she's happy to say hello in her own gentle way.

She doesn't seem to mind other cats around her, making her a wonderful candidate for a multi-cat home.
Bam is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
If you're looking for a calm, easygoing companion, she just might be the perfect match.
All she wants for Christmas is a warm lap to curl up in.
