One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Ramona, a four to five-year-old German Shepherd mix who's as loving as she is loyal.

“She was found as a stray and never reclaimed, but she hasn't let that dampen her affectionate spirit,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“Ramona is a clingy cuddle bug who thrives on human attention. She loves to be by your side and will gently paw at you when you stop petting her.”

Ramona gets along well with people, cats and other dogs and is housebroken, walks well on a leash, rides great in a car and enjoys a pup cup.

In a home setting, Ramona can be anxious and may become destructive if left alone for too long.

She also tends to hold off on eating until she feels safe and settled - usually after a few days.

“With patience, structure and reassurance, she will blossom into a confident and affectionate companion,” Serena said.

Ramona will need a secure, fenced-in yard and is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and heart worm negative.

Conga is a handsome 3-month-old kitten who is still learning to trust people.

He was also found as a stray and never reclaimed.

“When he first arrived, Conga was quite fearful and unsure of his new surroundings, but he's slowly beginning to warm up to our staff,” Serena said.

Conga is tidy with his litter box and has shown wonderful progress with patience and kindness.

He's looking for a calm, understanding home that will give him the time and space he needs to fully come out of his shell.

Conga is partially vaccinated, neutered and dewormed; microchip is pending.
