Â
The Husband and I spend a lot of weekends in Austin where two of our kids live.
Â
Much of our time there is spent exploring new restaurants and last weekend we scored a reservation at one of Austin’s coolest places, Comedor.
Â
(It was also named in the 2024 Michelin Guide.)
Â
This modern Mexican restaurant is led by Chef Philip Speer and is known for its unique dishes like bone marrow tacos.
Â
It’s vibey coolness means you should dress in your trendiest clothes and settle in for a night of fabulous food and exotic cocktails.
Â
We started at the bar where The Husband ordered an old fashion and I had a spicy margarita – another one of their specialties.
Â
The bartender asked on a scale of one to 10 how spicy I wanted it. I said four – and POW – it was spic-eeey!
Â
The cocktail menu also includes a $48 margarita prima the bartender says is so good that people are actually willing to pay for it.
Â
I wasn’t, so after my margarita, I shifted to cabernet.
Â
Once we were seated, we ordered what seemed like a ton of food, but the dishes are relatively small and there was a lot we wanted to try.
Â
We started with hummus served with a Middle Eastern flatbread, a suncheese tostado with salsa macha, charred summer squash, shishito salpicon and pescado fundido.
Â
The Husband, of course, ordered the house specialty – bone marrow tacos – made with quelites, smoked butter and pecan gremolata – and there wasn’t a drop left on his plate. Â
Â
I had delicious fish tacos made with blistered cabbage, toreado aioli and salsa verde.
Â
There was nothing that left us disappointed.
Â
Anyway, if you're an adventurous foodie who needs a night out, make a reservation at this downtown hot spot in Austin.
