The Big Cheese is coming to Stephenville and you’re invited to enter your best mac and cheese recipe.

Mac and cheese.

It’s one of the purest forms of comfort food, and if you have an affinity for it like I do, you’re going to love what I’m about to tell you: The Big Cheese is coming to Stephenville.

The mac and cheese cookoff benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erath County is happening at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the Bosque River TapHouse, and amateur and professional cooks are invited to enter.

“This is our first time to host the event and we are really excited,” BBBS executive director Sarah McNeal-Weaver told Beneath the Surface News. “We are partnering with the Bosque River TapHouse and they have some fun ideas about beer pairings.”

The event will take place on the patio (as long as the weather cooperates) and attendees will get a 2-ounce sample of each entry.

“We are inviting people to bring their best recipes for jalapeno mac and cheese, brisket mac and cheese and lobster mac and cheese,” Sarah said. “We even want your grandma’s Thanksgiving recipe.”

The cost to enter is $100 and the winner will receive a cash prize.

Tickets will be sold for $25 each and are expected to go on sale soon. (Follow Big Brothers Big Sisters Erath County on Facebook for more on that.)

Meanwhile, if you have any questions, email Sarah at smcneal@bbbstx.org.
