Cross Timbers Family Services is highlighting April’s National Child Abuse Prevention Month and National Crime Victims’ Rights Week with a rally at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the Erath County Courthouse.
“Stop the Silence is a rally meant to bring awareness and knowledge of existing resources for victims of violent crimes, such as child abuse and sexual assault that happen here in Erath County,” CTFS executive director Laura Gambino told Beneath the Surface News.
“Our event is kid-friendly and will have crime prevention activities for their involvement.”
The event will include an opening ceremony with the playing of the National Anthem, flag presentation by the Tarleton Corp of Cadets, Stop the Silence Proclamation, wreath dedication and a walk around the courthouse.
Area law enforcement, EMS and non-profit agencies will be on site with informational booths and interactive games.
“We will also have food prepared by the Tarleton Corp of Cadets ‘Grill Team’ for sale by donation to fund next year’s event,” Gambino said.
“We want to prevent and educate the public about these crimes in our community and support those victims as they go through recovery.”
