A Stephenville man is being held at the Erath County Jail without bond in connection with a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a young woman.
Trey Phillips was arrested Friday and charged with accident involving death.
According to the arrest warrant obtained by Beneath the Surface News, DPS Trooper Troy Bridier was dispatched to a motorcycle crash on County Road 490 in Erath County on July 12.
When Bridier arrived on scene, according to the affidavit, he found the motorcycle lying on the ground near a pipe fence, and a young woman identified as Kelsey Burton, lying near the motorcycle with serious injuries.
Burton was transported to a Fort Worth hospital by air, but reportedly succumbed to her injuries the following day.
The warrant states that a witness living near the accident told the investigator that Phillips came to her home with what appeared to be blood on him and stated that he had been in an accident, then fled the scene.
Phillips has a long criminal history dating back to 2011 when he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
He also faced charges in 2015 for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal trespass and escape from custody.
