A Stephenville High School teacher has resigned following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Stephenville ISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Cederstrom told Beneath the Surface News that the teacher had only been employed by the district this school year.

He would not comment on the nature of the relationship or how it was discovered by school officials, citing the ongoing investigation.

“We initiated the investigation,” Dr. Cederstrom said. “We have a process that we are legally bound to follow to protect our students.”

Police Chief Dan Harris said there have been no charges filed in the case.

“The Stephenville Police Department conducted an investigation in response to allegations of an improper relationship between an educator and student within Stephenville ISD,” Chief Harris said.

The young teacher reportedly graduated from Tarleton State University last year.
