Stephenville Downtown Merchants kick off year with new board, big plans.

The Stephenville Downtown Merchants has been instrumental in working to revitalize the downtown shopping and eating experience with new events that bring the community together.

And with a new year underway, the group is moving forward with a brand new board of directors and broad vision.

Julie Lowrance, president of the Stephenville Downtown Merchants, told Beneath the Surface News that one of the organization’s main goals for the year is to increase participation among downtown businesses.

“Our goal is not only to create new events for people to enjoy, but to make the community aware of everything that is happening downtown,” she said.

A Cinco de Mayo celebration is slated for May 7, which also happens to be the first Farmers Market of the season.

Julie said the group is also making plans for the second annual Wine and Art Walk on Sept. 24.

If you are a downtown business owner looking to get involved, make plans to attend a mixer hosted by the organization from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Hearsay Wine Bar.
