Stephenville city manager Allen Barnes announces early retirement; Jason King appointed as interim.

Stephenville city manager Allen Barnes has decided to retire earlier than expected, and on Tuesday, the city council accepted notice that he will leave his post at the end of April.

“I am tired, and it is just the right time,” Barnes stated in a press release from the city. “I appreciate this council. It is obvious that you all love the city, and it has been my pleasure to have served with you. We made a good team.”

Barnes has served as Stephenville’s city manager for the past five years. In March he announced that he would retire in December.

The process to find Barnes’ successor has already begun.

The city council has appointed assistant city manager Jason King to serve as interim.
