Stay at home order expires Thursday. Restaurants, retailers, movie theaters can re-open Friday.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told Texans that his stay-at home order during the COVID-19 pandemic will expire on Thursday.

“Texas has the third most recoveries in America,” Abbott said in a televised news conference on Monday. “The lives saved are priceless, but the price has been steep. Many have lost jobs; others have lost businesses…

“I want those Texans to know they are not alone in this fight.”

He said re-opening Texas will occur in phases, with phase I beginning Friday, May 1.

BUSINESSES THAT CAN RE-OPEN:

• Retailers, restaurants, movie theaters, malls, libraries and museums can open on Friday, May 1, with 25% occupancy.
