The following narrative was released by the Stephenville Police Department on Monday, May 20.
At approximately 2:34 p.m. on Monday, the Stephenville Police Department received reports about a male subject entering multiple businesses within the city and making threats.
“Stephenville Police Officers immediately responded to the area and began actively searching for the suspect.
"Officers located the subject driving a pickup truck shortly thereafter; however, the individual failed to comply with law enforcement commands, resulting in a vehicle pursuit.
"The pursuit continued into Comanche County, where officers were ultimately able to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”
The suspect, identified as Ricky George Byrd, was taken into custody and charged with making a terroristic threat, evading arrest in a vehicle and out of jurisdiction warrants.
At the time of this report, Byrd’s mugshot was not available.

Glad the chase ended safely in Comanche County with no one hurt — kudos to SPD for moving fast once those threat reports came in. Hoping the affected business owners and employees are doing okay after a scary afternoon. Dutton Ranch
