SISD bond propositions fail; Luke Sims wins seat on school board.

Luke Sims

Luke Sims is the newest member of the Stephenville ISD board of trustees after winning place 4 against Amauri Martinez.

Saturday’s final election results showed Luke Sims received 1,509 votes while Amauri Martinez received 1,266.

“What an awesome opportunity we have to serve Stephenville. I first want to thank my Lord and Savior; He is my all,” Sims said. “I thank my family - my wife Andi and my kids for their support. I thank my campaign team; they are amazing!

“And lastly, I want to thank Amauri Martinez for running a great fought race. I can’t not thank y’all that supported me enough! It’s very humbling to have a town I’ve dreamed of living in and that I love so much support me.

Let’s get to work!”

Meanwhile, both SISD bond propositions failed in stunning fashion.

PROPOSITION B - $25 MILLION SISD MULTI-PURPOSE FACILITY, TENNIS COMPLEX, BASEBALL STANDS, PRESS BOX

For – 1,242.

SISD superintendent Dr. Eric Cederstrom issued the following statement after Saturday's results:

“I look forward to working with both of our new Board Members, Matt Miller and Luke Sims as part of our SISD Team of 8. I thank Dr. Callahan and Dr. Dittfurth for their time as trustees providing leadership and insight to the District. The process of moving forward as a new team in the service of the District and its students offers exciting opportunities. I look forward to what the future holds.

“The voters have spoken on both propositions. Part of my responsibility is to gather needed information and provide recommendations to the Board as we move forward. Challenges exist and we will face them together. I thank all those who spoke with their ballot.”
