Shop with a Cop: 'Making their Christmas merry and bright warmed our hearts on this cold day.'

Erath County law enforcement agencies worked together to make Christmas a little extra special for 50 kids on Thursday through a program called “Shop with a Cop.”

“Today was so amazing thanks to the phenomenal generosity of our great community,” Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris told Beneath the Surface News. “We were so incredibly blessed to be able to shop with 50 kids from Stephenville and Erath County. Making their Christmas merry and bright warmed our hearts on this cold day.”

The kids started the day with breakfast at The Purple Goat, then headed to Walmart with an epic police escort for a shopping spree.

(By the way, I’ve been told that Walmart gave a pretty incredible donation to the program.)

Officers and deputies with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office, Dublin, Tarleton and Stephenville police departments and Department of Public Safety helped the kids pick out their gifts.

And you guys… the photos that Lauren Hummert Photography captured might have made the mascara run down my face.

I’ll be making a separate photo post on Facebook shortly so you can cry too.

Merry Christmas!
