One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Ruger, a four to five-year-old mixed breed sweetheart who's ready for a fresh start.
“This handsome boy was surrendered through no fault of his own and is ready to find a family to love him forever,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“Ruger is the total package - he's housebroken, rides great in the car, walks nicely on a leash and is reported to do well with dogs, children and strangers.
“Whether it's a road trip or a cozy night at home, Ruger is happy just being with his people.”
This lovable guy does have some separation anxiety and prefers not to be left alone for long periods, so he'd thrive in a home where he can enjoy plenty of companionship.
Ruger also has a beef allergy and has been treated with Apoquel and prednisone to keep his skin feeling its best.
One thing you'll notice right away is that Ruger is carrying a few extra pounds.
He's currently on a weight-loss journey, and his future family should be committed to helping him stay on a healthy diet so he can live his happiest, healthiest life.
Ruger is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.
Suburu is a beautiful one to two-year-old tortoiseshell cat ready to retire from motherhood and enjoy the good life.
“This lovely girl arrived with her baby in tow and did an excellent job raising her kitten and now it's her turn to be spoiled,” Serena said.

“Suburu is an independent lady who enjoys attention when she's in the mood, but she's also happy doing her own thing.
“She's not shy about setting boundaries and may give a swat or nip when she's had enough, so she would do best in an adult-only home or one without young children.”
This tidy tortie gets along well enough with other cats, but dogs are a definite no.
Most days you'll find her stretched out in her favorite spot, enjoying a peaceful nap and watching the world go by.
Suburu is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and litter box trained.
