One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Cupid.

“This sweet boy has been waiting far too long for a family to call his own,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“As our longest-stay dog, this sweet five to six-year-old boy first came to us in February 2024.

“He even found a home once, but through no fault of his own, he was returned after not getting along with the resident male dog.”

Don't let his long shelter stay fool you - Cupid is overflowing with love.

He's a happy, wiggly boy who greets everyone with hugs, kisses and an endless wagging tail.

He's housebroken, crate trained, rides well in the car and loves going for walks, playing fetch and spending time with his favorite toys.

Cupid would thrive in an active home that can give him the patience, structure and the love he's been waiting so long to find.

“He'll need a secure yard since he thinks he's part ninja and can jump fences, but with guidance and consistency, he'll make an incredible companion,” Serena said.

Cupid is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.

He would probably do best as the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the love and attention. He is not cat friendly.

Sugar is a beautiful three-year-old orange girl who's hoping for a second chance.

“She was adopted from us as a tiny kitten in 2023 but recently returned due to her owner's declining health,” Serena said.

After such a big life change, Sugar may need a little time to settle in, but once she feels safe, she's a sweet, affectionate cat who loves cuddles and watching the world from a sunny window.

She has done well with children and enjoys spending time with people.

Sugar has never lived with other cats or dogs, so slow introductions would be best if she joins a home with other pets.

She also rides well in a carrier and handles car trips like a champ.

Sugar is spayed, microchipped and FVRCP vaccinated.

She will just need her rabies vaccine updated before starting her next chapter.
