Remember the suspect in the flowered hoodie that robbed CEFCO? An arrest has finally been made.

Nikki Sechrist

Seven months after someone wearing a flowered hoodie and wielding a rifle robbed a convenience store in Stephenville, an arrest has finally been made.

Nila Sue Nicole Sechrist (Nikki) was arrested on June 5, charged with aggravated robbery in the November 2021 holdup at CEFCO.

Captain James Gresham with the Stephenville Police Department told Beneath the Surface News that the suspect walked into the store about 1 a.m., pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money.

“It happened pretty fast,” Gresham said in a previous interview.

After a months-long investigation, an arrest warrant was issued in May.

“We got a warrant for Nikki Sechrist based on information we received from a Crime Stoppers tip,” Gresham said. “A number of individuals told us that Nikki wore that same flowered hoodie pretty often.

“She came into the police department to talk to us on June 5 and basically turned herself in.”

Sechrist has been charged with aggravated robbery and is being held at the Erath County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

“Our investigators worked very hard on this case over a long period of time,” Gresham said. “The safety of our citizens is our number one concern. Crimes like this don’t happen very often in Stephenville, but when they do, we take it seriously and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.”

A BRUTAL MURDER AND PAST ARREST

This isn’t the first time Sechrist has been in trouble with the law.

In 2010 she was sent to prison in connection with the 2007 murder of Stephenville resident Jana Roberson.

Sechrist, who was 15 years old at the time, was dating the victim's son, Cody Roberson.

After serving nearly 10 years, she was released from prison in October 2020.
