Police: With the availability of alternative transportation, there is no excuse to drink and drive.

If enjoying a few libations is part of your holiday celebrations, Stephenville police are reminding the public to think twice before getting behind the wheel.

Lt. James Gresham told Beneath the Surface News that there have been 105 arrests for DWI in Stephenville so far this year.

“We made our first DWI arrest three hours into the new year,” Gresham said.

Police will have extra patrol on New Year’s Eve, so make plans to get home safely if you plan to drink.

“With the availability of alternative transportation, there is really no excuse,” Gresham said. “When you have had too much to drink, let someone else drive. A $10 Lyft ride is much cheaper than a $10,000 fine.”
