Police say road rage led to shooting on Lingleville Highway.

By SARA VANDEN BERGE

The Stephenville Police Department released a statement Sunday explaining the details of a shooting they say started as a case of road rage.

At approximately 1:05 pm. on Sunday, police responded to Conoco Discount Mart for a shooting that occurred in the 1500 block of W. Lingleville Highway.

The victim reportedly pulled into Conoco after the shooting.

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and located one person with a gunshot wound to the arm. They received medical attention at the scene before being transported to Harris Methodist Hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

“We have determined that the shooting was the result of a road rage incident between occupants of two vehicles,” the statement reads. “We want to assure the public that there is no continuing threat to public safety and this was an isolated incident. All parties involved have been identified and we are continuing to investigate the series of events that lead to this incident."

There has been no arrest.

The Stephenville Police Department wants to thank the Tarleton State Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Erath County Sheriff’s Department, Stephenville Fire Department, and the citizens that assisted us this afternoon.

"Because of their diligence, we were able to quickly secure the scene, determine there was no continuing threat to public safety, and provide medical care to the injured party," the statement reads.

We ask that if anyone witnessed or has information regarding this incident, please contact the Stephenville Police Department at 254-918-1273.
