New yoga classes coming to Stephenville Senior Center this fall.
The Stephenville Senior Center is keeping its pledge to expand programming by adding more yoga to the schedule of events.
“I’ve been holding yoga classes at the senior center for almost three years now, but I have been teaching for a decade,” Wendy Raffin with Gypsyfoot Yoga told Beneath the Surface News.
“My classes are open to the public, although people get confused because we meet at the center.
“This fall I’m offering a Monday evening class, a newly-added Wednesday evening class and restorative Yoga on designated Thursdays through October.”
Restorative yoga is practiced on the floor with props and blankets to support the body to build muscle memory through total relaxation, holding the pose for three to four minutes.
Classes begin Sept. 5 with hatha yoga at 6 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.
Restorative yoga will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 and 26 and Oct. 10, 24 and 31. Reservations for this class are required.
There is no set fee to attend these classes, but a $5 love donation is suggested.
