New Whataburger opening Thursday in Stephenville as old location closes permanently.

Whataburger fans will have to go without for the next 72-ish hours.

The restaurant in Stephenville closed permanently at 3 p.m. on Monday as employees transition to the new location slated to open for lunch at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

I spoke with Whataburger’s field marketing coordinator Chelsea Peel who told me that the first person in the drive-thru line, dine-in and curbside will receive a Whataburger gift basket on Thursday.

“The baskets will have all kinds of goodies like coupons, condiments, pancake mix, sunglasses and water canteens,” she said.

So get excited!

Stephenville’s new Whataburger will also include signage acknowledging Tarleton State University’s importance to the city.

Lea Contreras, member services director for the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce, told me that a ribbon cutting is planned for Friday, Aug. 20.
