Barrett Hutchison, the principal and athletic director at Morgan Mill ISD, was arrested Tuesday, May 19, and charged with driving while intoxicated with an open container and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

According to Captain Jeremy Lanier with the Stephenville Police Department, Hutchison was pulled over by police on East Washington Street shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

Last night officers responded to a report of a reckless driver within the city,” Lanier told Beneath the Surface News.

“Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

“During the investigation, officers observed indicators of possible intoxication, and standardized field sobriety tests were administered.”

Hutchison was arrested and taken to the Erath County Jail.

He was released Wednesday after posting a $4,000 bond.

Morgan Mill ISD Superintendent Wendy Sanders released the following statement on social media:

“The District is aware that an employee was recently arrested by local law enforcement authorities.

“At this time, the matter appears to be unrelated to the employee’s duties with the District or any school-related activity.

“Because this is a sensitive personnel and legal matter that will proceed through the criminal justice process, the District will have no further comment at this time.”
