Memorial Day tragedy: Man dies after being gored by buffalo.
A Strawn man was killed on Memorial Day after he was gored by a Buffalo in Erath County.
Fifty-four-year-old Roy Scrivner died from his injuries. He reportedly owned TD’s Deer Processing & Dude’s Taxidermy, according to Captain Ben Moore with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Monday.
“(Scrivner) was delivering a 4,000-pound buffalo, and as they were releasing it, he got hooked,” Moore told Beneath the Surface News. “He was gored in the pelvic region.”
Deputies responded to the scene after a witness called 9-1-1.
The witnesses performed CPR on Scrivner, but he died en route to the hospital.
Moore said the investigation remains ongoing, but it appears that it was a tragic accident.
