Local democrats to host ‘No Kings’ rally at Erath County Courthouse on Saturday.

The Erath County Democratic Party is joining the “No Kings” protests with a planned event beginning at noon Saturday, June 14, at the Erath County Courthouse.

The event page calls it “an afternoon of patriotism” to celebrate the adoption of the American flag.

“We'll start at the Erath County Courthouse for a peaceful demonstration in support of our flag and existing holiday…

“Then we'll walk from the courthouse to the Stephenville City Park at 1 p.m. for community building and a picnic, all while underscoring there are NO KINGS IN AMERICA.”

Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris told Beneath the Surface News that there will be police presence.

“We have been in close communication with the organizers of this event, the Erath County Democratic Party, and it is their hope and ours that this is a peaceful demonstration,” Chief Harris said.

“The law enforcement representatives and leaders of Stephenville and Erath County are closely monitoring the events taking place across the nation and those planning the No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance.

"We will act swiftly and take immediate enforcement action should anyone decide to make the Stephenville event anything other than a peaceful demonstration.”
