Student arrested after allegedly making bomb threat at Stephenville High School.

Updated: Oct 1, 2023

Police have arrested a male juvenile in connection with Thursday’s bomb threat at Stephenville High School.

The student has been charged with making a terroristic threat, causing mass panic.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible, Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris said.

Stephenville ISD Superintendent Dr. Eric Cederstrom wants students to understand that making threats against a school is no laughing matter. Nor is it a prank.

The bomb prompted a quick evacuation of students and faculty and a massive response from law enforcement.

Classes resumed after the school was thoroughly checked and no bomb was found.

“We are thankful for the student who found the note and turned it in,” Cederstrom told Beneath the Surface News. “We appreciate that our students take these things seriously.”

Prior to the arrest, Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris said detectives were analyzing video to try and determine who left the note.

“We are pursuing all leads and will use everything we can in this criminal investigation – from video to finger printing and handwriting analysis,” Harris said. “This is unacceptable and our goal is to find out who did this and bring them to justice.”

Cederstrom said whoever is found to be responsible will be prosecuted “to the fullest extent of the law” and face and serious consequences from the district.
