Here's how to register for SPARD’s fall sports: flag football, volleyball, cheerleading.

Stephenville’s Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for fall sports and registration is now underway for flag football, volleyball and cheerleading.

Recreation coordinator Houston Folmar sat down with Beneath the Surface News to answer a few questions about the upcoming season.

But the most important thing to remember is that registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, so now is the time to get it done.

Here are the answers to other questions you might have:

How much is the registration fee?

Flag football - $55 for resident; $60 for non-resident

Cheerleading - $55 for resident; $60 for non-resident

Volleyball - $55 for resident; $60 for non-resident (fees cover staffing, field maintenance, equipment, supplies, materials, and uniforms).

How old do my kids have to be to participate?

Flag football – 5-12 years

Cheerleading – 4-12 years

Volleyball – 8-12 years

When are practices?

During the week. SPARD does its best to work with volunteer coaches and facility availabilities to accommodate all schedules.

When are the games?

Fall league games are held on Saturday; make-up games could be held during the week

Can girls play football and can boys participate in cheer or volleyball?

Yep! Fall leagues are co-ed.

How does cheer work?

A schedule is created to rotate the squad around to different age divisions, giving more teams a chance to be cheered on!

What happens if there aren’t enough kids registered to create a league (specifically volleyball)?

SPARD will work with its community partners to form a camp or event for registered individuals.

Where can I find the rules for youth football and volleyball?

It's simple. Click here.

What if I’m having issues with the “birth date as-of” during registration?

Give SPARD a call! Staff can override the kids who are about a year too young into the entry age division. If you choose to play your child in a higher division, they can override that too. (Participants can only play up one division.)

What does the uniform consist of?

Football and volleyball will receive a jersey (colors and team names are chosen by the coaches). There is an option of add-on bottoms for $10.

Participants must have pocketless black shorts (athletic) for football and black spandex for volleyball.

The cheer uniform is a racer-back top and skort.
