History in the making: Erath County gets its first liquor store.

Just two months after voters overwhelmingly passed a measure to approve local alcohol sales, Erath County’s first liquor store opened in Stephenville.

Discount Liquor, located at 1660 W. Lingleville Road, opened Jan. 7 to fanfare and a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.

Co-owner Hari Khanal told Beneath the Surface News that the store is fully stocked and will be receiving new shipments in the coming days and weeks.

“We have vodka, rum, whiskey, tequila, mixes – everything,” he said. “We are ready to go."
