Fifth local death in Erath County linked to COVID-19. Family sets up GoFundMe account.
A man in his 40s reportedly died Tuesday at Texas Health Harris Stephenville Hospital after contracting COVID-19.
Beneath the Surface News learned of the death, which is the fifth in Erath County related to the virus, on Tuesday evening but could not get it confirmed with county officials.
Since then news of the man’s passing has spread on social media. Family and friends have identified the deceased as Carlos Angeles of Stephenville.
A GoFundMe account has been started to help his wife and three daughters with funeral expenses.
Note: The Texas Department of Health has changed the way it counts COVID deaths. It must say "COVID" on the death certificate to be official. County officials now have to wait for an autopsy to confirm deaths related to the virus.
