Father’s Day at Newton’s Cellar; think smoked ribs and chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy.
Updated: Jun 28, 2021
Father’s Day is just around the corner and if you still haven’t made special plans for dad, now’s your chance.
Chef Mike Newton is hosting a special lunch from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, at Newton’s Cellar in downtown Stephenville.
I spoke with his wife Melanie Newton about the event.
“We are focusing on things like burgers and ‘manly’ foods like smoked ribs and chicken fried steak with jalapeno cream gravy,” Melanie told Beneath the Surface News.
The regular lunch menu will also be available as well as ribeye steaks, tacos and a tangy barbecue pork waffle.
Sound delicious? Then book your table now.
Reservations aren’t required, but they are highly suggested.
“We were really busy on Mother’s Day and expect a high turnout for this as well, so it’s best to have a reservation,” Melanie said. “The great thing about our lunch menu is that we have quite a variety and lower priced options than our dinner menu.”
And if you would rather enjoy Chef Newton’s food in the comfort of your home, there’s this: On Friday, June 18, Newton’s Cellar is offering a full rack of smoked Pederson’s Farms St. Louis pork ribs for $20. (But you must pre-order.)
He will also sell two of his BBQ sauces.
