Erath County Vaccination Center closing permanently this week; local Covid cases down significantly.
After fully vaccinating almost 15,000 residents, the Erath County Vaccination Center is set to close permanently at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2.
Walk-ins and appointments for the second dose of the Moderna vaccine will be available until then.
“We have kept our commitment to those who have had their first dose of Moderna and need the second shot,” Stephenville Asst. Fire Chief Chuck Elliott told Beneath the Surface News. “And we will be giving those shots from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday.”
The vaccination center opened on Jan. 27 in the Bosque River Center in Stephenville. The number of people still seeking the vaccine has slowed tremendously, prompting the decision to shut down.
“All of the shots are now available at local pharmacies and several doctor’s offices,” Elliott said.
Meanwhile, local Covid cases remain low.
Erath County officials on Tuesday reported one new case from last Friday.
There are now six active cases and no local hospitalizations.
