Erath County sees more than 600 new cases of COVID-19 in past week; risk level remains ‘severe.’
Erath County’s COVID-19 risk level hasn’t budged from “severe” and with 686 new cases diagnosed during the past week, it doesn’t appear that it will be downgraded anytime soon.
“The new variant appears to be very transmittable and our numbers continue to increase at an extremely high rate,” Erath County emergency management coordinator Cyndi Smith told Beneath the Surface News.
Based on the CDC’s recommended 5-day recovery (instead of 14 days), there are 147 active cases; 85 in Stephenville, 45 in Dublin and 17 in the county.
There are also 11 local hospitalizations.
More information on the new CDC guidelines can be found here.
Residents can receive free rapid COVID testing at the Erath County Courthouse.
Testing is available Monday through Friday by appointment only.
