The Erath County Master Gardeners organization is hosting its annual spring plant sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Texas AgriLife Research Center, located at 1229 N, Hwy. 281 in Stephenville
“As always we’ll have many varieties of Texas natives and adapted plants as well as indoor and patio plants, shade plants and sun lovers, herbs and succulents,” event organizer Sheila Mangione told Beneath the Surface News.
“Our educational focus this year is incorporating Texas native plants into home landscapes.”
Gordon Lee, a certified master gardener, will be at the plant sale to explain the advantages of Texas natives and help local gardeners select the most appropriate plants for their landscapes.
“Texas natives need very little help to survive and thrive through our hot summers, cold winters, and long dry spells,” Lee said.
“They are easy to take care of plus they attract birds, bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
“Our focus on education includes an information station with handy gardening guides from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
The plant sale will include fun gardening activities for kids and a silent auction with a garden cart filled with gardening tools, garden décor, seeds and other goodies.
