ENDORSEMENT: ‘We need Rita Cook’s experience on our school board.’

Rita Cook

Join me in voting for Rita Cook for SISD school board trustee Place 6.

“The mission of Stephenville ISD, a premier, values-based, dynamic educational system committed to a tradition of excellence in collaboration with the community, is to ensure that each student achieves his/her highest potential, develops strong moral character, and succeeds in and contributes to a global society as a life-long learner by engaging all students with diversified, challenging programs facilitated by highly-skilled, passionate educators maximizing resources in a positive learning environment.”

After reviewing SISD’s mission statement, I realize Rita Cook’s career demonstrates an alignment with several key elements that stand out to me.

Tradition of excellence: Rita’s pursuit for a career of excellence started out like many, right here on West Overhill Drive.

Rita is a graduate of Stephenville High School and has a Bachelor’s of Arts from Tarleton State University, a Master’s of Education from Tarleton State University, and a Doctorate of Education Administration from Kansas State University.

Rita’s family has strong roots in this area and she hopes to honor their history and ensure a successful and productive future for all Stephenville graduates.

We need people who have served in career and leadership roles outside the boundaries of 76401 to bring a level of excellence to our schools. Rita has a healthy professional background that will add value and excellence to SISD.

Collaboration with the community: Once you meet Rita Cook you quickly feel her strong belief in supporting the community.

She currently serves as the chairman of the Main Street Board and as president for 50 Women Strong, a philanthropic organization that provides grants to organizations in Erath County.

She has formerly served in numerous roles such as CASA advocate, library board, Parks and Leisure board and Stephenville Education Foundation board.

She has first-hand experience in seeing how collaboration works and understands that it is vital to create educated, workforce ready students.

Life-long learner: Rita is committed to ensuring that Stephenville Independent School District is recognized as the best school district in our area and state.

Her career has been devoted to life-long learning as she worked as a classroom teacher, speech pathologist, special projects director, CEO of a regional education service center and school superintendent.

We need Rita Cook’s experience on our school board.

It only takes one conversation with Rita to realize her passion for education runs deep. She is asking for our vote so she can give back to a school and community that so richly blessed her life.

Ashleigh Feuerbacher,

Stephenville
