The Dublin Public Library is preparing to give students and families a boost for the upcoming school year.
The library will host its annual back-to-school fair from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
Library director Adina Dunn told Beneath the Surface News that it's partnering with Dublin Lions Club and Dairy Queen to serve hot dogs and ice cream.
“We are so excited for this year's event," Adina said.
"The mission of the fair is to support families in our community and allow every student to feel dignity and pride on the first day of school."
There will be special activities for kids including a foam machine from 12-1 p.m.
Volunteers with Shear Heaven and All About You Spa & Salon will provide free haircuts to children beginning about 8:30 a.m.
“Last year, our back-to-school fair was a huge success, with more than 200 children and families participating,” Adina said.
The kids will receive a ticket and get to pick out their backpacks and volunteers will man tables with hygiene items like soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, feminine products and new socks and underwear.
There is no pre-registration required – just show up – but items are on a first-come, first-served basis.
