“Racism has no place in our community or within the Dublin Police Department. We are committed to ensuring every person is treated with dignity and respect.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to fairness and accountability, the officer involved, along with all Dublin Police Department officers, will receive additional training in cultural diversity and racial bias awareness.”
Beneath the Surface News has received the video, which appears to show an incident inside a convenience store on Saturday.
A male officer can be plainly heard, stating, “I can grab you some ice if you want,” to which the man filming the encounter says, “Excuse me? Oh, you think it’s funny?”
A female officer who does not look at the man recording can be heard saying, “We are not with ICE, we already said that.”
The male officer says, “I don’t know why you are talking to me.”
The man: “Cause I don’t want ICE or you in my driveway.”
Male officer: “Well, we haven’t been in your driveway.”
The man: “Yes, they have. I’ve been watching you guys.”
Male officer: “That’s cool.”
The male officer then repeats his offer to get the man a bag of ice as he walks right in front of the camera.
The man filming says, “This is gonna go viral. You have any more jokes?”
The officer says, “No, I thought that was good enough,” then the video ends
