Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray named Erath County’s new ‘Hometown Hero.’

Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray is Erath County’s new “Hometown Hero,” an honor bestowed upon him by the team of Farmers Insurance agent Leslie Walker.

Ray grew up in Erath County and graduated from Lingleville High School in 2009. He has served as a volunteer firefighter since he was a teenager.

In 2011, Ray graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in criminal justice, then attended Hill College Police Academy.

“I’m very honored to receive this award,” Ray told Beneath the Surface News. “I’ve been fortunate to work for and with some incredible people during my career and believe they are part of what allowed me to achieve this.

“I love serving this community and look forward to doing it as long as I can.”

Along with the honor of being named as July’s Hometown Hero, Ray received a gift basket, gift certificate and treats for his co-workers.
