COVID UPDATE: Erath County sees 20 new cases on Monday; local hospitalizations hit 44.

The number of new cases of COVID-19 shows no signs of slowing down.

Erath County officials released the latest numbers on Tuesday, which included 20 new cases diagnosed on Monday; 10 in Stephenville, two in Dublin and eight in the county.

The total number of cases now stands at 1,109 with 145 still considered active.

There have been 44 local hospitalizations since the pandemic began and 17 deaths connected to the virus.

“Cases are increasing across the country and specifically in Texas. El Paso just had its fourth mobile refrigerated morgue set up,” Dr. Kelly Doggett told Beneath the Surface News. “They have shut down and have a two week stay-at-home order. The Texas AG’s opinion is the shutdown order violates the governor’s executive order to open Texas.

“To me, that’s mind boggling. Hospitalizations and positive cases are increasing in North Central Texas, yet some people believe the pandemic is not real because they don’t know anyone personally that has contracted COVID-19 or died from it.

“Well, let me tell you - it’s real. I see the numbers of positives for our county every day. I see cases every day. These are from approved and reputable laboratories. They are not made up. This is all very real.”
