Updated: Jun 30, 2021

Erath County officials on Monday accepted the results of a county-wide petition to legalize the sale of alcohol.

The measure will be on the Nov. 2 ballot.

Lana Stevens, chief deputy of the tax assessor’s office, told Beneath the Surface News that out of the 6,606 signatures that were submitted, 4,802 were verified.

“They had to have 4,409, so there was a cushion of 393,” she said.

If you want a chance to vote in November, the deadline to register is Monday, Oct. 4.
