Homes For Our Troops is inviting the community to pitch in this weekend to help landscape around a home for an injured soldier.

The national nonprofit organization is hosting a volunteer work day beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at 805 Hill Valley Estates in Stephenville.

The new home is for Army SPC Kyle Beddow who was severely injured in Afghanistan.

It has more than 40 adaptations including lower countertops and roll under sinks.

Specialist Beddow was on his first combat deployment serving with the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in Afghanistan when he lost his left leg in an improvised explosive device blast on May 20, 2012.

Volunteers will be asked to help landscape the home by laying sod and planting trees and flowers in preparation for the veteran’s homecoming.

SPC Beddow will receive his home during a key ceremony event soon.

Check-in for Saturday’s event will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Volunteers are asked to bring gardening gloves and will receive an HFOT T-shirt and lunch.
