City partners with Waste Connections to host golf tourney benefiting all-inclusive playground.
Updated: Mar 31, 2021
The City of Stephenville and Waste Connections are on a mission to make sure that every child in Stephenville has a place to play.
The two have formed a partnership to raise money for an all-inclusive playground with equipment designed for children with special needs and are hosting a golf tournament to raise money.
“The idea of a golf tournament was suggested by a resident of Stephenville when they approached the city in the fall of 2020 to recommend an all-inclusive playground where children of all abilities can play together,” Kelli Votypka, director of parks and leisure services, told Beneath the Surface News. “This member of our community has been a part of the planning committee since day one along with parks and leisure services staff and members of Waste Connections; who is a major sponsor this year.”
The playground will be located behind the Rec Hall at City Park.
It will have a dairy farm theme and include unique swing sets for those using a mobility device as well as slides, climbing pieces, a seesaw and other sensory-rich devices.
