A raffle benefiting a local EMT is underway on Facebook through 8 a.m. July 4th.

David Houghton, an EMT with Erath County EMS, was recently diagnosed with a serious heart condition, according to Trenton Brown, who is organizing the fundraiser.

“All the money from this raffle will go directly toward supporting his medical expenses,” Brown told Beneath the Surface News.

Details on the raffle can be found on the event’s Facebook page, “David Houghton Benefit Raffle.”

The page states: “David Houghton, a dedicated Advanced EMT, has faithfully served Erath County EMS since 2005. He’s not only a lifesaver on the front lines but also a vital member of the Erath County SWAT team, always ready to answer the call—day or night.

“Last month, while on shift, David experienced a medical emergency of his own. He has since been diagnosed with a serious heart condition, compounded by diabetes.

“His treatment has included the placement of a pacemaker and stent, with the possibility of a heart transplant on the horizon.

“At just 44 years old, David now faces an overwhelming journey—physically, emotionally, and financially.

“This raffle is a small way for us to give back to a man who has given so much.

“All proceeds go directly to support David’s medical expenses and time away from work as he fights to recover.”

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased on Venmo @Chereen-Prado or at Erath Fire and EMS, Tac Pro Shooting Center, Texan Guns & Gear and Pigeon Road Shooting Range.
