Auction for single mother battling stage 4 cancer is happening Saturday. Make plans to go.

Toni Jowers

Whatever plans you have this weekend, try to make time to attend an auction for a Stephenville woman who desperately needs help.

Thirty-eight-year-old Toni Jowers is battling stage 4 metastatic cervical cancer.

She was born and raised in Stephenville and is a single mother raising two teenagers while trying to fight the disease.

Her sister Tephney McMurray is working to bring awareness to her sister’s plight.

“We lost our mom 10 years ago to pancreatic cancer,” Tephney told Beneath the Surface News. “My sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer about five months ago and it has spread to her hips, kidneys and lymph nodes.”

Toni recently completed an aggressive treatment plan that included chemotherapy and radiation, but is now taking a break from treatment, hoping to be chosen to participate in a clinical trial.

For now, though, her family and friends are trying to raise money to help Toni pay her bills and buy much-needed medication she can no longer afford.

“She is not able to work and she really needs help,” Tephney said.

You can help by attending a live auction at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.
