One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Abernathy, an eight to nine-month-old mixed breed pup that arrived at the shelter as a stray.
“Abernathy is a sweet, energetic girl who lives for attention and being with her people,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“She loves to be in the middle of the action and will happily follow you around to see what's going on. She is the perfect companion for an active home.”
Like any young puppy, Abernathy will need patience, consistency and training as she grows, but her affectionate personality and eagerness to be involved will make it all worth it.
She is spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.
Sugar Ray is a handsome seven to eight-year-old domestic short hair looking for a fresh start after being surrendered due to his owner's declining health.
“He may be a little shy at first, but give him some time and patience, and you'll see his sweet, gentle personality start to shine,” Serena said.

“Once he's comfortable, Sugar Ray enjoys attention and will happily soak up affection at his own pace.”
He hasn't been tested with dogs or cats, so a slow introduction is recommended for homes with other pets.
Sugar Ray is neutered and vaccinated.
