Two longtime police officers have been promoted to the rank of captain within the Stephenville Police Department.

“It is an honor to be able to promote both James Gresham and Jeff Walker, each to the rank of captain, the new second in command tier of the SPD,” Chief Dan Harris told Beneath the Surface News. “These men have extensive law enforcement training, education and experience and will be key leaders in taking our department to the next level of greatness.”

Walker has been an officer for 13 years, beginning his career with the SPD in 2008. Prior to becoming a captain, Walker was a lieutenant with the department.

He earned a degree in criminal justice from Tarleton State University and holds a Master Peace Officer Certification.

Walker also serves as a firearms instructor and is an expert leader in Patrol/SWAT operations.

Gresham was also a lieutenant who began his career in law enforcement with the Tarleton Police Department in 2000, joining the SPD in 2004.
