With several inches of snow in the forecast, a winter storm watch is issued for Erath County.

For the second time this year, Erath County could enjoy another rarity: Snow.

The Stephenville Police Department on Friday issued a winter storm watch, stating that accumulating snowfall is likely across parts of North and Central Texas, including Erath County, on Sunday.

“A strong winter storm system will track across Texas late Saturday and into Sunday. Widespread precipitation will form within this storm system, transitioning from rain to snow across much of the region on Sunday,” the advisory reads. “While there remains some uncertainty on the exact snowfall amounts that can be expected, and where the heaviest snow amounts will occur, accumulating snowfall appears likely for portions of North and Central Texas beginning late Saturday night and continuing through the day Sunday.”

Anywhere from one to six inches of snow is expected, impacting travel.

The advisory is set to expire at 6 a.m. Monday and also includes Eastland, Palo Pinto, Hamilton and Hood counties.

Erath County rang in 2021 with a snow storm on New Year’s Eve.
