With every bass you hook, golf ball you hit and game you play, think of Jayden Kahne McKinney.

Jayden and his little brother Karter.

“At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, we remember them.” - Sylvan Kamens & Rabbi Jack Reimer

The following was written by the family of Jayden McKinney, who passed away Sunday in an ATV accident:

Our sweet Jayden.

Our shaggy, brown-haired boy, with sparkling golden-brown eyes, beautiful olive skin and perfect pink lips.

His perfectly placed dimples and wide smile can light up any room. His kind heart and giving spirit is always eager to bring joy to others.

His circle of friends is wide and far-reaching, and when you speak to any of his classmates or fellow athletes, they will tell you that he was their best friend.

Jayden loves to fish...

Jayden loves fishing and is part of the SHS bass team. He may not have caught as many fish as he had hoped, but he sure was proud to reel in a 20-pound turtle (give or take, as fish tales go).

He has a huge passion for golf and spends hours with his friends and family out on the course. No matter the highs or lows of golfing, he found joy on any golf course he played. Even if it was collecting all the missing golf balls - usually his own - from the rough.

He plays both basketball and football for the Stephenville Yellow Jackets.

Jayden’s proudest moment came when he was 10 years old.

But his favorite thing is being a big brother.

After years of waiting, he was promoted to big brother. Jayden adores his big brother status and shares an unbreakable bond with little brother, Karter.

As we move forward, our family would love to see you live like Jayden and walk in his light; with a smile on your face, twinkle in your eye and nothing but love and grace in your heart.

With every bass you hook, golf ball you hit and game you play, think of Jayden Kahne McKinney.

The family has established a Jayden McKinney Memorial Scholarship Fund at TexasBank in Stephenville. We plan to honor Jayden’s legacy each year.

A celebration of life for Jayden will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church Stephenville. Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Stephenville Funeral Home.
