While on vacation with the family these past few days, I missed a rather important milestone I have been working to reach: Beneath the Surface News quietly surpassed 110,000 visits and 62,400 visitors.

I was so wrapped up enjoying the fact that my family was together for the first time in six months, that I nearly missed it.

And I couldn’t be happier.

I love community journalism and launching this site that allows me to do it my way has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Since March I have worked hard to develop a blog that keeps people informed, entertains them with pages like “My Favorite Things,” which highlights products I love, and, most recently, “The Crumb,” which includes recipes and restaurant reviews.

All this to drive traffic to my site and attention to the many advertisers who also believe in all things local.

I love our vibrant business community.

To the readers who take time to read my stuff and “drop me a line,” thank you.

Many of you have been a part of my career in journalism for more than 20 years and I couldn’t do it without you.

It feels like we are on this journey together.

And if you will keep reading, I’ll keep writing!

Don't ever believe that local doesn't matter. It does and these numbers prove it.

Drop me a line and let me know what you think.
